GMDC once again wins National Mines Safety Awards

Minerals constitute one of the main pillars of economic growth of any country. Mineral industry has achieved tremendous growth and also imbibed the latest mining technologies. Along with the growth, safety and occupational health of the people engaged in Mining have become important parameters in mining operations. . Ministry of Labour and Employment endeavours to reduce the risk of the occupational diseases and casualty to persons employed in the mines. This is achieved by drafting appropriate occupational health and safety legislation and setting standards, by overseeing compliance thereof and buy taking up variety of promotional initiatives and awareness programmes which create an environment in which safety is given due priority. To promote a competitive spirit amongst mine operators for the betterment of safety standards in mines and give due recognition to outstanding safety performance at the national level, the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, instituted the National Safety Awards (Mines).

GMDC has been selected for the National Safety Awards for following categories.

  1. Panadhro Lignite mine of GMDC has been the Winner of Lowest Injury Frequency Rate (LIFR) per Million Cum. Output > Coal Mines (Opencast) output > 10 million cubic meter (including overburden) for the year 2015.
  2. Mata-no-madh Lignite mine of GMDC has been the Runner of Lowest Injury Frequency Rate (LIFR) per Million Cum. Output > Coal Mines (Opencast) output > 10 million cubic meter (including overburden) for the year 2016.

The award was presented to GMDC by Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Hon’ble Vice President of India on 16/12/2019 at New Delhi. On behalf of GMDC, the award was received by Shri Arunkumar Solanki, IAS – Managing Director & Shri Dhiraji Thakor and Shri Amishkumar Makadia, General Manager (LP) & Shri Muljibhai Parmar.

Honor given by the ICAI to Shri L Kulshrestha, GM(Finance) & CFO

CA. Lavanya Kulshrestha,GM(Finance) & CFO, Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited was honored by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in recognition and appreciation of valued contribution at the highest financial management level in the industry .This was presented by CA. K. Raghu, President, ICAI on 1st February, 2015 during ICAI award ceremony 2014 held at Sahara Star, Mumbai.

It is a pride moment that CA. Lavanya Kulshrestha, General Manager (Finance) and CFO has become the recipient of this prestigious national level honor.
