Recently during my visit to Gadhsisa project. I came across a person having a great combination of being a Mining Engineer and also a “RAMAYANI” – one who recites the all time great epic Ramayana which is one of the greatest epics of the world and which has a special place in Indian culture as well as Sanskrit literature. It was a pleasant surprise for me to know that Shri N.B. Patel has a unique ability of reciting this great epic. He is also being invited by different individuals/ organizations to recite Sundarkand also. Shri N.B. Patel’s house in our green colony has acquired a status of temple. Shri N.B. Patel is supported by General Manager (Project) Shri R.L. Bhatt and Mrs. Sulbhaben Bhatt. It is a matter of great pride and satisfaction to see someone in our own project who is doing something very innovative.

Let us congratulate Mr. Patel for his pious pursuit.

Education is that pillar of civil society which enlightens and empowers its recipients. GMDC has always given priority to promote education as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility and hence when a request came from Mining affected village, Thordi near our Bhavnagar Mines, it was impossible to resist to extend a helping hand to a student in particular girl student, who excelled at State Higher Secondary in Science stream. Miss Anjali Ba hailing from a small village of Thordi in the outskirts of Bhavnagar, secured 9th rank in all Gujarat and 1st rank in Bhavnagar District. Felicitation function was organized in august presence of Collector, Bhavnagar Project authorities and village community to felicitate this young and aspiring Medical Student. The function was filled with warmth and appreciation. The smile on the face of this bright girl was like a thousand splendid suns.

Unfurling the National Tricolour is indeed a matter of pride and privilege. The 64th Independence Day celebration was hosted by Rajkot in this year. In my capacity as Prabhari Sachiv of Rajkot district, I had an opportunity to preside over the full-dress rehearsal of Independence Day Parade on 13th August, 2010. I was overwhelmed with the feeling of sense of pride. The tunes played by the Police Band charged up not only the Parade participants but also every one present at the venue.

This is the day when we are reminded of the invaluable sacrifice and services of our great freedom fighters. It becomes our duty in a way to preserve the sanctity of this independence and strive constantly to make our tricolor shine with pride.
