Batting a Glorious Fifty is no small an achievement for any one, Whether it is the Batsman Or corporate

Created 15th May, 1963, GMDC was s rare feat in the Business History of state of Gujarat.

The Fledgling state acutely the need to have a rapid industrial development, for which it wanted Fuel and energy resources. The motive inspired the state to incorporate a public Sector company That would target exclusive development of Mineral resources endowed on the state. Thus, began A historical journey which has today reached a milestone of Glorious Fifty.

The mineral quest first took GMDC to a small place in surendranagar district, GMDC started a small Silica sand crushing plant. From this humble starting, GMDC today boasts of a vast array of Mineral Portfolio in its mineral rich basket.

That ageless and endless journey has traversed through some of the most exciting milestones.

GMDC has forayed into Power generation with the implementation of 2X125MW Akrimota Thermal Power project in Kutch.
This Lignite based plant uses state-of-the-art DDCS technology and environment friendly CFBC boiler that controls sulfur in the fuel gas emission.
A 100 meter green belt surrounds the entire site.
1) 250 MW Lignite Fed Power Plant · 150 MW Wind power

GMDC's Humble Beginning

With the advent of a separate state of Gujarat in 1960, an acute need was felt to trigger then industrial growth. GMDC was conceived as a major player to supply much needed industrial fuel to the industries of the state,
In the year 1963, GMDC was incorporated as a Government Company to explore and develop the mineral riches of the State of Gujarat
In the year 1997, the government offloaded 26% of the total equity.
